I just spoke with a dad whose daughter has recently been brought to faith in Christ. His comment was that she is different.
Not elaborate. Not flashy. No lightning bolt. No lack of evidence. Just a transformation of behavior.
I was at Falcons training camp last August, and I felt this presence next to me that was big and powerful. I could feel the size and weight of the person. I took a glimpse over and it was Tommy Nobis. Now, if you are not a Falcon fan, or even a football fan, you will not know who this is. Let's just say that he is Mr. Falcon and Mr. bad. He is also a quite caring man who does tons for the community. Anyway, I began to act strangely. I was figity and uncomfortable because I suddenly became aware of the fact that there was some Falcon and NFL greatness right next to me. I could not find words to say, and I was not even sure I should say anything.
After continuing to watch 11 on 11 drills with my sons and some quiet reflection, I spoke some profound words. "Hey". The response? "Hey". Wow. My day made. Tommy Nobis said, "Hey."
Now what does that have to do with tranformation? Simple. Tommy Nobis changed the way I related to people because I was in awe of this man I have watched and heard of since I was a kid in the 70's.
If Tommy Nobis can transform my ability to relate then what happens when the King and creator of the universe initiates contact with a fallen creature? There is a change that takes place immediately that leaves the King's mark on us. Be sure there is much that will change as the years go by, but that initial encounter will leave it's mark.
This is what happened to this young lady. The King marked her as his, and she is different.
How much does the King's mark show on me? You? Us? I hope so much that it is clearly evident we have been known by King Jesus.
